Is it 2010? It certainly feels like it when the names L-Vis 1990 and Egyptrixx are mentioned in the same sentence and it takes us back to a time when the word bass-music got thrown around a lot and everything sounded like the future. Alas it’s not 2010, but the two Nightslugs acquaintances have crossed paths yet again in the formation of a new Techno project called Limit.
As ever, it finds the two production pioneers testing the limits of club music with a zealous, yet controlled energy let loose on the dance floor. Metallic percussion and tons of atmosphere shroud a very minimalist Techno aesthetic that contains a bit of both L–Vis 1990 and Egyptrixx’ signatures on the opening track Limit#01. But it’s not all about Techno and the the two producers bring something of their Grime-informed origins to the project with the emphasis on contrasting the noise with silent in their pursuit to find new rhythmical devices for a club context. Limit#01 is streaming today as the official announcement of the project and expect the release of the mini LP around the 3rd of June via Egyptrixx’ Halocline Trance label.
