Exploring the “aftermath of experiencing spectral consciousness” and the “desolate aspects of urban life: modern ruins, wide, empty streets in industrial neighbourhoods” is LXV, the experimental ambient moniker of David Sutton (aka Current Amnesia). Mihal Drop Scene is the first single to come from the upcoming Clear LP due on the 1st of July for Anòmia. LXV creates a twisted ambience on the track, manipulating samples and synthesisers into harsh tonal screeches that claw erratically at a sonic landscape like a chalk board. It’s a track that features all the drama of a metropolis distilled down into a singular noise that warps the sonic environment around itself and oppresses any other sonic event from escaping its overwhelming design. It makes a very formidable mark in music today and it would be interesting to hear whether LXV upholds this aesthetic for the entire upcoming album.
